A Vintage Wedding With a Modern Twist at Vox Theatre in Kansas City, Kansas

Michelle Costello (31 and a field trainer at Lifetouch) and Booker T. Brown (35 and a photographer) wanted their wedding to have a romantic, vintage look with a sophisticated, modern twist. The day after their proposal, they enlisted the help of Colleen from Colana Events, who flawlessly brought Michelle and Booker’s vision to life. Michelle and Booker combined antique cameras and books with modern gold accents and subtle polka dots for a look with plenty of whimsy. Wanting a venue that also fit their eccentric style, Booker quickly suggested Vox Theatre in Kansas City, Kansas. After their walkthrough, Michelle was equally convinced by the phenomenal owners and industrial style, and they knew it was where they would get hitched. Michelle and Booker especially loved being able to have the ceremony and reception in the same room (without flipping it), so guests were already seated at their tables during Michelle and Booker’s vows. One of our favorite details was the stunning florals by Phyllis at Queen’s Price Chopper. Michelle wanted them all to be light and airy and to match the blush and gold palette, and Phyllis totally got it. “She went above and beyond for me,” Michelle says. “She was so helpful in picking the right colors and types of flowers that matched our look.” There are so many details we love about this wedding—see them all, beautifully captured by Sharayamauck Photography, below.
