A Vintage Wedding at Palmetto Riverside Bed and Breakfast in Palmetto, Florida

Thirteen years after Shelly Kroush (31 and a nurse) and Angelo Russo (32 and works with HVAC) met through a mutual friend, Angelo popped the question. The couple was watching an evening fireworks display on the Fourth of July when he proposed. “I just loved that he was still nervous to ask me to marry him,” says Shelly. Over the next 17 months, they worked with Kimberly Hensley Events to plan an outdoor wedding decorated with in pink, peach, lavender and metallics. “We wanted a romantic, glam and fun wedding and it was just that,” says Shelly. Hanging arrangements of dusty miller, pink spray roses and hydrangea were placed alongside rows of wooden pews as pink and white flower petals lined the ceremony aisle. A crystal chandelier and white draped fabric was hung overhead as the couple said “I do.” After the wedding, Shelly and Angelo’s 85 guests enjoyed bocce ball and a custom bean bag toss while guitarist and violinist played in the background. Their reception was decorated with round white linen-covered tables, gold chargers, tiered vintage-style floral centerpieces in bulb vases and candles in purple glass holders. The couple served a plated dinner before they received a surprise visit from Superman. “Angelo’s step-brother wore a superman shirt under his suite. He had the DJ play theme music, ripped his shirt open and yelled “Wait the groom doesn’t have a drink.” Then, Superman came to the rescue," says Shelly. The couple spent the night on the dance floor and taking pictures in a photo booth before taking their sparkler exit. “Our wedding was better than I could have ever dreamed,” says Shelly.
