A Vintage Travel-Themed Wedding Seven Sisters at Valley of Fire State Park in Overton, Nevada
Genesis Docena (26 and a high school teacher) married Oliver Acosta (28 and an account manager) in a traditional church ceremony in Las Vegas, Nevada. "We chose Las Vegas because my parents live there, and it was close to California, where most of our family is from," Genesis says. "Also, Las Vegas is the city Oliver's parents immigrated to when they came to America, so it has a strong significance as a city of new beginnings." After a traditional church ceremony, Genesis and Oliver marked their union with a personal, intimate celebration. For a backdrop, they chose the stunning Seven Sisters at Valley of Fire State Park in Overton, Nevada. Local event planners Cactus and Lace arranged an intimate reception area for the newlyweds, their immediate family and friends and their beloved Boston terrier, Nemo. The decor drew from a palette of crisp mint green, deep purple and gold. “We wanted our look to be timeless, comfy, elegant and warm,” Genesis says. Decor details honored the couple’s love of travel—stacks of vintage suitcases served as side tables, and vintage globes and cameras topped the small dining table, which was set with vintage lace and mint green linens. After taking some unforgettable photos, Genesis and Oliver cut into a rough-frosted cake and sipped on coffee and tea with their guests. “They even had a special place setting for Nemo," Genesis says. —Carolyn Meers
