A Vintage Travel-Inspired Wedding at The Plantation at Ponte Vedra Beach in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida
After Ginny Krauss (30 and a wedding blogger) and Thomas Krauss (30 and an engineer) met through mutual friends in Jacksonville, Florida, he returned to Germany and they began a long-distance relationship for two years. Ginny joined Thomas in Munich in 2010 and he popped the question while they were visiting family in San Diego, California. Over a two-year engagement, the couple worked with Dairing Events to plan a navy travel-inspired wedding from thousands of miles away. "Our theme was 'A Love to Cross Oceans For,'" says Ginny. Wanting the celebration to be near where they first met, they chose The Plantation at Ponte Vedra Beach to house their wedding. They had an outdoor ceremony accented with simple white folding chairs and a white-fabric-draped arch before the couple’s guests went inside. Friends and family members from around the world signed Ginny and Thomas's globe guest book and drank "Thomas Ginn Fizz" cocktails before entering the reception. Vintage suitcase centerpieces were placed alongside custom map table names, vintage trinkets and personal vacation photos. Blue linens covered each round table as all enjoyed a buffet dinner and three-tier confection filled with strawberry, almond and vanilla cake under a layer of vanilla buttercream frosting. Ginny and Thomas spent the rest of the night on the dance floor and snapping pictures in a photo booth with their guests. "It was great getting to spend so much time with everyone," says Ginny. "We felt that our day truly incorporated us with all of our travel decor and the German wedding tradition."
