Jessica and David shared a mutual group of friends but the two never had any one-on-one time. One day Jessica and a friend, Casey, were headed to the beach, and Dave said he’d meet them there. Dave stayed true to his word and spent the entire day wandering up and down the crowded coast looking for the girls. They finally met up that night for dinner and planned their first date -- a lunch date the next day. The Bride Jessica Frobel, 28, a director of client services The Groom David Collier, 32, a managing partner of a restaurant The Date May 23 A few years later, on Christmas Eve, the couple enjoyed a romantic dinner at Jonny V’s. “I’ve never met an embroidery, eyelet, linen, or lace I haven’t loved,” says Jessica. So a lace-like color scheme of white, ivory, and vintage gold seemed to fall into place. For subtle pops of color, she added red and blue accents.
The couple spent several days deciding on music and gospel readings. “We wanted the ceremony to reflect our relationship with each other and also with God,” Jessica explains.
Two of David’s nephews, Tyler and Jonathan, shared the ring bearer duties. The boys took great pride in carrying the couple’s Paloma’s Nest ring bowls down the aisle.
The baker made Jessica’s vision come to life. Together, they drafted the design on paper and decided on embossed gold florets.
Jessica bought her 1995 Amsale sample gown -- originally $3,500 -- at a benefit event for $700, all of which went to cancer research and treatment. Jessica convinced David that the money she had saved on the dress should be used toward fabulous shoes -- a pair of Christian Louboutins.
Jessica and her sister found gorgeous frames to hold the seating assignments. They complemented the rustic Spanish look of the monastery cloisters.
Jessica’s sister found three amazing vintage Ball glass jars at a local flea market. They served as the inspiration behind the wedding and sat on the front reception table next to the escort frames.
Jessica’s necklace was a handmade piece, crafted from vintage pearls, wire, and pieces of costume jewelry. A single blue bead was placed at the very top, near the ribbon tie.
Slightly smaller versions of Jessica’s bouquet, the bridesmaids carried a mix of hydrangea, garden roses, orchids, and lisianthus -- all in ivory and white.
Tables were set up in a U-shaped arrangement and topped with low garden floral centerpieces, which included ivory and white hydrangea, garden roses, orchids, and lisianthus.
White wrought-iron stands with scroll embellishments held oversized numbers for each table.
