A Vintage, Southern-Inspired Wedding in Savannah, Georgia
Alan and Ralph, both owners of their own assisted living facilities, have a soft spot for the opulent old South, especially Georgia. “The rich history and beauty of Bethesda is the right fit,” Ralph says. With that in mind, Alan and Ralph planned a vintage, Southern-inspired wedding with their own spins on tradition. After escorting one another down the aisle, the couple dedicated a portion of the ceremony to combining the soil from their childhood homes for the roots of a magnolia sapling. At the reception, guests danced under string lights, snacked on candied bacon and watched as Alan surprised Ralph with a custom Louis Vuitton chair.
“We just wanted to rely on the natural beauty of the chapel,” Alan says. He and Ralph added candles, hydrangeas and roses to the altar. Guests crossed a small bridge to get to the clear reception tent, staged in a grove of mossy trees and strung with soft bistro lights. Alan and Ralph filled the space with mismatched vintage furniture, votive candles and a stage set for a jazz band that played old favorites. Alan and Ralph cut into a cake inspired by their favorite brand, Louis Vuitton, in a variety of flavors including classic red velvet with cream cheese, vanilla with bourbon cherry and chocolate filling, and raspberry and lemon curd.
