A Vintage, Shabby-Chic Wedding at a Private Residence in Rainsville, Alabama
We can’t get enough of the vintage decor—not to mention the personal details—in this aqua, mint and white wedding. “I was inspired by things I loved: vintage items, birdcages, lanterns and my mother's creativity,” Katie Willingham (23 and an elementary teacher) says of her wedding to . Cody Willingham (25 and an engineer technician). On their wedding day, Katie and Cody accented her aunt and uncle’s backyard in Rainsville, Alabama, with hanging arrangements of hydrangeas and Queen Anne’s lace designed by her mother's best friend. Each bridesmaid started the ceremony's procession in a short, aqua dress for an added bright hue as Katie followed in a sweet A-line wedding dress covered with floral embroidery. Once she and Cody exchanged vows, the celebration moved to an outdoor reception. Guests were encouraged to play corn hole accented with cameos or rest for a moment on vintage lounge furniture. When they were ready for dinner, each reception table was met with antique-style books, a monogram “W” for Katie and Cody's last name, vintage dinnerware and clear glass vases filled with pink roses or baby’s breath. Did we mention the wedding cakes? Placed on a mint, vintage dresser, Tina Cakes baked a four-tier ivory confection accented with Katie and Cody’s monogram, roses and a tight ruffled detail. Cody’s groom’s cake even had shotgun shells to represent his love of hunting. Another detail we loved was the wedding favors. All were welcome to fill a bag with cookies or have a seed packet from a vintage flower cart that read “take one and watch love grow” on a chalkboard sign.
