A Vintage Library Wedding at Mountain Magnolia Inn, in Hot Springs, North Carolina
On a random Wednesday night David Carlton (26 and a technician) called Mia Drabick (25 and a teacher) into the kitchen. "After I got home from a grueling day, David was making dinner—which was no oddity since he went to culinary school—and he wanted me to see if the steak was cooked to my liking," says Mia. "But instead of a steak, he was on one knee!" David had purchased the ring that day and simply couldn't keep it a secret. The following year, the couple exchanged vows at Mountain Magnolia Inn, in Hot Springs, North Carolina surrounded by stunning mountain views. Mia and David welcomed their guests with a gift baskets of North Carolina treats including a coffee mug, wine, an agenda for the weekend and a local map. "The Inn itself dates back to the Civil War, could accommodate the entire wedding party, and there was ample lodging within walking distance of the venue," says Mia. "That way, I was able to turn the wedding into a weekend of festivities from a bonfire on Friday, to whitewater rafting and brunch on Sunday."In honor of the bride's career as a teacher, the centerpieces were built atop vintage books in their khaki and purple color palette with love or marriage related titles. Mia's mom helped with all of the rustic DIY details including the stenciled burlap table numbers and vintage bookmark escort cards. The couple wanted to echo their venues beautiful landscaping with purple flowers at each place setting and completed the look with a cascade of purple ombre flowers on their fondant wedding cake.
