A Vintage-Inspired Wedding at a Private Residence in Dallas, Texas

Celebrating their nuptials at home just felt right to Baranda Fermin (34 and a professor at the University of North Texas, Dallas) and Lincoln Stephens (33 and the executive director and cofounder of the Marcus Graham Project), who wanted their wedding to be intimate, memorable, and in a meaningful place. “I wanted to be able to sit with the laughter and toasts, and memories of our friends and family any time I desired,” Baranda says. “We wanted to begin our life in a deeply meaningful way, in our home, in our city.” Lincoln took the reins in planning the day, which began with a ceremony in the front yard, complete with church pews, vibrant flowers by Absolutely Blooming and a DIY burlap aisle runner. They even invited their neighbors to join, some of whom participated from their own yards. Since their home was built in the 1920s and Baranda chose a wedding dress with lace details and a Jackie O.-inspired veil, the vintage theme came about naturally, with accents of burlap to make the day feel like Texas. To top it all, their wedding included nods to the city of Dallas, Texas: Reunion Tower inspired Baranda’s engagement ring and even made an appearance on the wedding cake.
