A Vintage-Inspired Industrial Wedding at The NP Event Space in Brainerd, Minnesota
Jessie Raaen (23 and an aesthetician) and Josh Turan (28 and a construction worker) booked The NP Event Space for its exposed brick, steel beam architecture and unique history as a former railroad station. From there, they set out to plan a vintage celebration filled with a rich color scheme of burgundy, plum and blush. The shades were brought to life with the help of the groom’s purple corduroy pants, air plant boutonnieres, floral invites and an abundance of astilbe, dahlias and hydrangeas. Jessie’s only ask for flowers: “The messier, the better.” Jessie and Josh said “I do” in front of dramatic red doors covered in greenery and hanging amaranthus before recessing down an aisle made from old train tracks. Cocktail hour featured two signature sips: green apple Pop Rocks–garnished champagne and peppermint schnapps with hot chocolate and wafers. Velvet antique chairs, string lights and crystal chandeliers brought eclectic flair. At dinner, charming accents like mismatched dinnerware and bright pink taper candles looked luxe next to lush garland runners and gold flatware. For dessert, they served a “topsy turvy” vanilla naked cake decorated with ranunculus, greenery and roses, plus blush and mint macarons.
