A Classic, Vintage-Inspired Wedding at The Saint Paul Hotel in St. Paul, Minnesota
After meeting through work at a toy show in Hong Kong, newlyweds Megan Miesen (27 and in sales) and Dan Westcott (36 and in sales) quickly realized they shared a serious affinity for one very unusual ingredient. "We shared a few work dinners before we realized how much we both love food -- especially hot sauce!" Megan explains. It only made sense, then, for Dan to propose during a group cooking class one year later after Megan had made the permanent move to New York City. "It was hosted in a small carriage house in the back of a restaurant in the city, and there were candles and flowers everywhere," Megan says. "When we sat down, Dan looked at me and said, 'This was never meant to be a group cooking class.'" For their classic September wedding at The Saint Paul Hotel, the couple borrowed vintage-inspired elements to make their dream wedding day a reality. "The hotel was so charming and beautiful," the bride explains. "We were able to house all of our guests there without compromising any of our needs in the process. It was just too perfect." Dressed in an ivory Venus wedding dress complete with a white lace cape, the bride and her groom (in Hugo Boss) exchanged vows on the hotel property before moving to an adjacent room for the cocktail hour while the ceremony space was prepped for the reception. "That's what was so great about the venue," Megan says. "We had a few glasses of champagne in the next room, and after an hour, we came back to a transformed dining area." While the couple's 130 guests enjoyed a night of dinner and dancing, one specific detail sticks out to the newlyweds while reflecting on their special day. "My close friend was so sweet and made cookies for everyone to receive upon check-in," Megan says. "She even added a bit of cayenne pepper to them because she knew how much Dan and I like things spicy!"
