Kacie Wilson (27, a bartender) and Shaun McGuire (31, a bartender) knew each other for quite a long time before getting engaged.“Shaun and I have known each other since we were kids, since I was best friends with his cousin growing up (but he and I weren't close at all),” Kacie says. “But about six years ago I was looking for a part-time job, and I tend bar and at the time Shaun owned a bar, and he wouldn't hire me! So I started working at another local bar where Shaun was a regular and pretty much the rest is history. Shaun proposed while I was at work on a busy Sunday at Gleason's in Peekskill. I had about six tables and guests at the bar and in walks Shaun with a weird look on his face. (I knew something was up because he was supposed to be at work too.) He sits at the bar, grabs my hands, and told me he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me, I said ‘I'm in!’ and started crying and then had to get drinks for a table of 6 that was waiting.”Their ceremony took place at the Newburgh Brewing Co. in Newburgh New York, which is a local brewery with a huge taproom and event space. “The room is beautiful with a big bar, hardwood floors, large windows with views of the Hudson River, brick walls and rustic lighting and they were a pleasure to work with,” Kacie says. “It was just what we were looking for -- an open space with character and charm. Oh, and beer! After the ceremony we were even able to take a ton of photos in the brewery where all the magic happens. One of our good friends Craig, performed the ceremony. It was light and funny and it meant so much more having one of our friends have such big part of our big day. Our reception and cocktail hour both took place at Feast at Round Hill, in Washingtonville, New York. The first time Shaun and I walked in, we knew it was place with no second guess. Feast is a colonial-style house converted into an event space that is so welcoming and cozy that it feels like home. Our reception band was Double Down, the house band for Swing 46 in Manhattan. To really get the speakeasy vibe going we hired a gambling company, Ace and Jack Enterprises. They were such professionals that it was like gambling at a casino, only with money that had our faces on it. We had roulette, blackjack, craps and poker. And at the end we gave away some great prizes for our biggest winners including a flat screen television. Pretty much every aspect of the wedding reflected us. We did the decorating together, the bands we found (that wrote custom songs just for us), the custom cocktails, the speakeasy theme -- it's us, our way, and a true reflection of both our characters and our life together. Unconventional. As for our guests, it was three different parties rolled into one! The brewery where we got married was serving drinks to the sounds of a unique band, overlooking the Hudson River, surrounded by everyone who was dressed to the nines like it was the ‘20s all over again! And a little surprise at the end to everyone was the hotel where we all stayed had their Halloween party booked for that day as well. We partied into the wee hours of the morning!”

"The bouquet I carried was actually a collection of my late grandmothers brooches and pins -- a small testament to her and how instrumental she was in making me who I am today," Kacie says.
"Our favorite holiday is Halloween, and each year we throw a big costume party and didn't want this year to be any different," Kacie says. "We got married on Halloween 2014 and had a speakeasy 1920s theme."
"Everyone in our wedding party had different look, while all still looking cohesive," Kacie says. "A few girls wore beautiful beaded Sue Wong cocktail dresses and a few wore fringed black dresses, all with T-strap heels and vintage-inspired jewelry. They guys wore simple cutaway suits all with different accessories like bow ties, suspenders, hats and long ties."
"The food was amazing," Kacie says. "I can't say enough about it, so I won't. Our menu was eclectic and ranged from tuna tartar, to Spanakopita, to apple brandy chicken."
"Our stationery was made in collaboration with B13 Signs and Designs," Kacie says. "They were mostly black, white and sparkly gold with strong Art Deco borders and a 1920s font. Our save the dates were in a telegram postcard style all stamped with a custom K and S wax seal."
"When it came to the ring, we did it together," Kacie says. "We went to Leigh Jay Nacht in Manhattan who specializes in antique and vintage reproductions. We chose a custom made 1920s reproduction with beautiful cutouts and a European cut diamond."
"Our colors were mostly gold, black and white but with pops of color in the flowers and in the table lanterns," Kacie says. "No two tables looked alike."
