A Vintage, 'Great Gatsby'-Inspired Wedding at Gonzalez United Methodist Church in Cantonment, Florida

Everything about Lisa and Caleb's vintage wedding emulated a modern 'Great Gatsby'-inspired soiree. Wanting a historic white church with unique and intricate architecture, Lisa found the perfect match just 20 miles north of Pensacola, Florida. Built in the 1800s, Gonzalez United Methodist Church now shines with a white exterior and a rich chestnut wood interior after being restored in 2008. "Because the building was so beautiful on its own we decided to let the architecture speak for itself and do no decorating," says Lisa. As a graphic designer, Lisa contributed to her own wedding by crafting the invitations and programs, while her twin brother, Taylor Morgan, designed all of the centerpieces using bamboo, palm fronds and oak branches. "I also wanted to keep to the art-deco style, so I incorporated geometrics when I designed the wedding stationery," she says. To follow through with the 1920s theme, Lisa found a simple yet elegant Maggie Sottero gown called Orianna made of crepe-back satin with a V-neckline and beaded cap sleeves. "I did not want to use a veil but instead decided on a jeweled headpiece created by my textile designer friend, Hannah Rodriquez," says Lisa. A piece of advice from the bride: "Don't be afraid to delegate responsibilities to people who are willing to support you in your marriage journey. Caleb and I had so many talented, helpful family and friends who made our day special. We can't take the credit for how special and unique our day was. God blessed us, for sure!" says Lisa.
