A Vintage Garden-Party Wedding at Jekyll Island Club Hotel in Jekyll Island, Georgia

“I knew I wanted a vintage garden-party feel for the wedding, and Crane Cottage at Jekyll Island Club Hotel in Jekyll Island, Georgia was the perfect backdrop,” says Ansley Sellers (28 and a speech pathologist) on her wedding to Ken Sellers (33 and works in logistics). The old homes and the mix of marsh views with live oaks draped in moss felt magical, and the couple loved that their friends and family could stay close enough to walk to all the weekend’s festivities. One thing Ansley was sure about: She wanted to wear her mother’s ball-gown wedding dress. “Not only did it fit me perfectly, but it was the exact, classic silhouette I wanted,” Ansley says. She added an ivory organza overlay over the bodice and a tulle skirt with illusion sleeves to fit the feel of her winter wedding. To help with the other details, the couple’s choice of wedding planner was a no-brainer. “I had the pleasure of working with Caroline Carter of Caroline Carter Events for a couple of years, assisting in coordinating weddings, so I saw her talent and style firsthand,” Ansley says. Together, the couple agreed on a color palette of navy, gold and blush to play off the white buildings and green gardens of the Jekyll Island Club Hotel. They made sure to add personal touches, such as a statement table covered in Ansley’s mother’s blue and white ginger-jar collection, a bourbon and bubbly bar (with pink champagne, of course) and a guest book where their loved ones could include travel suggestions for the newlyweds.
