A Vintage, DIY Wedding at Leon Art Gallery in Denver, Colorado
Cadee Harris (35 and an esthetician and business owner) and Sarah Heid (33 and an artist and designer at Babylon Floral) met through their best friend. Five years later, Sarah proposed on vacation on the Washington coast. “Sarah secretly called ahead and had our trailer stocked with pink peonies (my fave!) and a record player with some our our favorite records,” Cadee says. “We went down to the beach to have a romantic picnic, and Sarah completely surprised me with a proposal in the sand.” Cadee and Sarah exchanged vows exactly six years from the day they had their first date. Leon Art Gallery in Denver, Colorado, is their favorite gallery, and they share a lot of wonderful memories there, so it was an obvious choice. They loved how urban, artistic and personal it felt. Although they kept decor to a minimum because of the gorgeous, original artwork on the gallery walls, they used shades of green and pink as their main colors. The couple exchanged vows in front of a DIY Aspen tree alter, and their best friend (the same one that introduced them) officiated the wedding. Afterwards, the couple had their reception in the same location with vintage details such as a typewriter and vintage couches. However, they wanted to leave enough room for dancing! One of their best friends played DJ with their vintage vinyl collection of soul, R & B and classic rock. They brought in a food truck, Verde, for a taco dinner, which required very little cleanup, and the gallery owner was the bartender for the night. “Guests continue to note how perfectly personal, fun and loving our wedding was,” Cadee says.
