A Vintage, DIY Wedding at Cheney Place in Grand Rapids, Michigan
Audrey Betcher (27 and a therapist) and Casey Hilliker (29 and an electrician) met in high school but did not begin dating until a couple of years after they had graduated. After seven years together, Casey proposed. Over Fourth of July weekend, Audrey and Casey were on the beach of Lake Michigan at Point Betsie Lighthouse. As the sun set, Casey asked Audrey to marry him. They chose to have their ceremony in the upstairs ballroom at St. Cecilia's Music Center in Grand Rapids, MI. "We chose it for its character and also the price," Audrey says. They held their reception at the Cheney Place. "It was affordable, we got to chose our bar and food vendors, and it was the vintage meets modern feel that we were looking for," Audrey says. Audrey grew up with antiques in her home and she always loved the look of vintage meets modern. Their colors were orange and teal. Calla Lillies were used for all of the flower arrangements. To create the centerpieces, Audrey and Casey chose wooden pieces with votive candles. They collected vases at Goodwill and spray painted to match the orange and teal colors. For wedding favors, Audrey and Casey made their own salsa and blueberry jam and put them in mini ball jars. It was important to Audrey and Casey that their guests enjoyed their wedding as much as they did and made sure their DJ kept them on their feet.
