A Vintage Backyard Wedding at Heintzman House in Toronto, Ontario

Bonnie Cook (30 and an office manager) and Horace Hunter (37 and an owner of a gym) met at a gym while Horace was teaching a boxercise class. Gaining strength and confidence, Bonnie began taking real boxing lessons and soon after, Horace became her full-time coach. Not wanting to mix her sports career and personal life, Bonnie rejected Horace when he first asked her on a date. After a year of persistence, however, Bonnie finally agreed to go out with him. Soon after, the two began dating and during Christmas dinner, Horace proposed to Bonnie surrounded by their closest family. Both Bonnie and Horace knew they did not want a traditional banquet hall wedding, so they chose the Heintzman House which provided them with a homey yet vintage atmosphere with the availability of an outdoor ceremony. This sealed the deal for Bonnie, and the couple lucked out when a rain storm ended just two hours before their ceremony was planned to start! With a color palette of ivory, brown, and soft creams and pinks, Bonnie let her bridesmaids choose their own chiffon dresses to fit their particular comfort and style. As a unique touch to the reception, Bonnie made the wedding cake and an assortment of desserts for the guests. The night before the big day, Bonnie had a friend use orange buttercream to create an ombre effect on the three-tiered cake. To keep a spiritual side to the wedding, Bonnie even made the cake topper quoting a Bible verse from Corithians:13. "The amount of laughter was infinite throughout the day. I specifically remember our photographer asking us to laugh a little less for the photographs because it was making things too difficult," says Bonnie.
