A Vintage, Art Deco-Themed Wedding at NorVa in Norfolk, Virginia
Originally opened in the 1920s, the NorVa music hall—located in the heart of downtown Norfolk, Virginia—had the historically rich atmosphere that brought this art deco-styled wedding to life. Lindsey Carter (25 and a tax accountant/live music photographer) and Chris Bates (35 and in digital marketing/graphic design) attended a concert on their first date, and so they wanted to incorporate their love and gratitude toward music through their reception space. When guests arrived, they were greeted by the old-fashioned marquee board that spelled out "Just Married/Lindsey and Chris/July 25, 2015." The large hall seated 150 friends and family members at round dining tables, draped in sparkly gold runners and black linens that followed the day's color scheme. Lindsey and Chris sat at the head table, which faced all the rest of the tables, along with the wooden dance floor that illuminated their last name in lights. Even Lindsey's and Chris's looks embodied the Roaring Twenties style—from Lindsey's Alvina Valenta gown accented with English netting and Chantilly lace to Chris's black tuxedo with mint green vest and bow tie. The best was truly saved for last, with the gold and mint tiered wedding cake, designed with sunburst motifs and filled with delicious flavors of Funfetti and chocolate.
