A Vibrant Waterfront Wedding at Cottage on the Creek in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina
Along Shem Creek, Taylor Birmingham (30 and a mortgage loan officer) and Brent Grems (32 and an asset manager) celebrated their spring nuptials surrounded by friends and family at Cottage on the Creek in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. “We decided on a destination wedding because we had friends and family traveling from all over the country,” Taylor says. “We wanted to make sure people came not only for the wedding but also to get away from everything they’re dealing with day in and day out." Afternoon showers threatened their outdoor setup, but by the time the ceremony rolled around, the sun shined bright. The couple outfitted their wedding in a palette of subtle hues like champagne, blush, sage and apricot with pops of deep reds. They said “I do” on a tented dock overlooking the creek, then moved inside for dinner and dancing. The newlyweds made their grand entrance to “Rocky Top,” the fight song for the University of Tennessee (their alma mater), then danced as husband and wife to Norah Jones’s “Turn Me On.” “Darby, the DJ with Epic Charleston, was phenomenal,” Taylor says. “I danced all night, and Brent really hung in there with me, even though he was in his boot from tearing his Achilles tendon eight weeks earlier.” After dancing the night away, the newlyweds exited with a romantic sparkler send-off. —Marissa Hermanson
