A Vibrant Indoor Wedding at the Citadel Beach House in Charleston, South Carolina

Laurie Tedder (32 and a pediatric dentist) was beyond smitten when she Matthew (Matt) Campbell (32 and a dental resident) in dental school and knew he was the man she was going to marry (even though they were both dating other people at the time!). "When I signed in on the first day, I had a heart-racing, catch-my-breath, sweaty-palm moment when I saw him—maybe not love at first sight, but total awe," says Laurie. "I may have even drooled a little bit!" They began dating two years later and Matt planned to propose during a weekend trip to South Carolina but Laurie ended up getting sick. Matt proposed a few months later during a sunset walk on the beach. "The stinking cutie was down on one knee in the sand and was so nervous—it was like he was begging," says Laurie. "Standing there looking at him was so overwhelming it was almost painful. We were both shaking so much, I was terrified the ring was going to get lost in the sand!" After they celebrated with family, the couple began planning their vibrant South Carolina wedding at the Citadel Beach House with a navy and coral color palette. Despite many recommendations for outdoor Charleston venues, the bride knew that none of them would be the right fit. "I didn't want to worry about wind, rain, heat, squinting in the sun or getting mosquito bites and welts," says Laurie. "My type A personality and crazy sensitive skin needed an indoor venue!" While an abundance of coral peonies and garden roses decorated their ballroom reception, Laurie requested just three red roses from their florist. "My grandfather would always give my grandmother three red roses whether to celebrate, apologize or for no reason at all," says Laurie. "But those three red roses stood for 'I love you,' so we had to have them there!"
