A Vibrant Autumn Wedding at the Inn at Mountain View Farm in East Burke, Vermont

The barn at the Inn at Mountain View Farm offered a bit of a history lesson for Annie and Drew's autumn wedding. Once a functioning barn, the inn still has hay racks hanging in the corners and horse stalls lining the dinner venue, separating tables with the same walls that separated animals many years ago. The floors creak, and the autumn air flows through the huge barn doors, yet it was transformed into a polished wedding venue. Storied Events (Carrie MacMilan) led the makeover effort, surpassing every expectation with details ranging from pops of golden light; long candlesticks accenting every table; marigold, blush and ivory floral accents; and distinctive but simple table settings. The hashtag told the whole story: #HarveysBigDay. Annie and Drew's beloved border collie, Harvey, was a constant and sweet presence throughout the event, his cute face appearing on all the custom paper products (invitations, ceremony program, menu) and in the actual ceremony as the "border collie of honor." He helped Annie into her wedding gown and accompanied the couple during their first look. Harvey was even in two of three portraits with the bride and groom. The ceremony site donned a birch arbor that was delicately decorated with seasonally fresh dahlias, eucalyptus and garden roses as the newlyweds exchanged vows overlooking the Willoughby Gap, a locally worshipped viewpoint. The farm itself came alive with pops of blush, yellow, marigold, ivory and gold all glowing under the twinkle of bistro lights and votive candles that lined every window. Each detail stood out, from the gold finish on the three-tier cake to the spray-painted plastic figurines that led guests to their seats. —Libby MacCarthy
