A Tropical-Inspired Wedding at Aster Cafe in Minneapolis, Minnesota

Taisha Bosher (28 and a graphic designer) and Alex Uncapher's (28 and a photographer and DJ) “tastefully tropical” theme was brought to life with abundant plants and bright pops of color. “We both love jungle vibes and wanted to incorporate the lush green leaves, but also had some restraints with classic fashion, urban architecture and modern décor,” Taisha says. She created the stationery herself and used informal language to reflect the day’s laid-back vibe. The custom design carried over to the guest seating chart, table numbers and favors. After exchanging their vows, Taisha and Alex recessed to a steel drum version of Felix Mendelssohn’s “Wedding March.” The bouquets were a punchy mix of florals and fruit, like a dwarf pineapple and hanging berries. An arched door acted as their backdrop, but the couple created a more visual altar with towering birds of paradise in baskets to frame them. Alex created a “feel-good” playlist with dancehall music and old-school R&B for cocktail hour before guests sat down at long farm tables. An assortment of votives and jar candles created an intimate feel, and modern elements like rose gold table number holders and a copper wire card basket completed the look. Cheery red ginger plants emphasized the bright theme of the day.
