A Travel-Inspired Wedding at the Riverhouse at Goodspeed Station in Haddam, Connecticut
Kathryn Zawistowski (27 and works in the pharmaceutical industry) and Robert Boothroyd (25 and works in the pharmaceutical industry) met in Boston while they were both attending pharmacy school. Robert actually approached Kathryn while she was on a date with someone else and asked her out! The date she was on couldn't have been too successful, because she agreed and the rest is history! Robert proposed four years later while the two were vacationing in Costa Rica. While the couple were living in Switzerland while they planned their wedding, they decided on a traditional affair back in the States in Robert's home of Haddam, CT. They settled on the Riverhouse at Goodspeed Station to host the event after falling in love with the venue's location on a secluded ridge next the Connecticut River and world-class amenities. While the couple chose a classic florals and a black and white color for the affair, they added plenty of fun personal touches to the that highlighted their love of travel and new adventure abroad. Leather luggage tags replaced traditional escort cards and guided guests to their "destination," each table being named after one of the cities the couple had visited. Instead of a traditional guest book, Kathryn and Robert had their guests sign post cards that they had collected from all over Europe and place them in a customized mail box, which they would use at their new home once they move back to the United States. As a thank you to guests for sharing their day, the couple placed a box of Swiss chocolates, straight from Switzerland, at each place setting.
