A Travel-Inspired Loft Wedding at Venue at King's Centre in Johnson City, Tennessee

It was all about travel when Haley Hartley (28 and a registered nurse) and Amit Jagarwal (31 and an engineer) planned their contemporary wedding at Venue at King's Centre in Johnson City, Tennessee. Guests entered the loft reception space through an elevator that opened straight into the industrial chic room with high ceilings, 22 windows and an eclectic mix of travel decor. The blank venue was transformed with a black, gold and purple color palette and pops of purple uplighting. "We painted the picture of our past year together and our hopes and dreams for our future through our travel-inspired decor," Haley says. "We utilized pieces that typically define places we either had been or want to go to." After a buffet dinner that highlighted their favorite Indian and American cuisine, Haley and Amit walked around the reception and gave a compass to each guest. "As I handed it to each person I said, 'The compass is so that you can always find your way home,'" Haley says. "On my 21st birthday, my father gave me a compass necklace and said the same thing to me. I wanted to pass on the love and guidance my father had shared with me and this act made it seem like my father was there with us." Haley didn't give her florist specific instructions for flowers besides from her purple color palette. "She did more than I could have imagined, and I had a pendant photo of my dad attached to the bouquet," Haley says. "That was the most important decoration to me!"
