A Traditional Wedding With a Historic Twist at Molly Pitcher Inn in Red Bank, New Jersey
This wedding really was one for the history books. Courtney Scanlin (32 and in marketing) and Gary Nolan (34 and in sales) channeled their love of history in their wedding. Their venues even followed the trend as both the Elberon Memorial Church and the Molly Pitcher Inn in Red Bank, New Jersey, were about 100 years old and inspired the decor, adding a subtle charm to their day. Susannah Gill-Photographic Storytelling captured every sweet detail, as Courtney and Gary started the day with a first look, followed by the ceremony. “My fondest memory is of when the doors to the church swung open,” Courtney says. “The light was streaming through the stained glass windows. The organ was playing; everyone we loved was in one room and my handsome groom was smiling at me. Even though the church had no heat, I’ve never felt warmer.” Guests were wrapped in pashminas and held hand warmers as they watched her walk down the aisle in a classic Allure Bridals A-line wedding dress with a lush bouquet of roses from Katydid. Once Courtney and Gary exchanged vows, all went back into the November air and continue celebrating with an indoor reception. The damask wallpaper within the ballroom was reflected on each navy and ivory escort card, as guests took their seats in gold chiavari chairs. Tall candelabras filled with hydrangeas and roses accented the tables with an elegant touch, and all enjoyed live music from Brian Kirk and the Jirks. (Guests are still raving about them!) After a slice of Courtney and Gary’s four-tier navy and white wedding cake from Ye Olde Pie Shoppe, they ended the night with a song, a pair of custom sunglasses made by her cousin and more than enough memories to last the next century.
