A Traditional Wedding at the Westin Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort in Fort Lauderdale, Florida

Janelle Rhodes (31 and a teacher) and John Pughe (30 and in government relations) focused on their religion and his Celtic heritage for a wedding filled with personal details. Esther Louise Photography captured the day, which started with a sweet ceremony in John's family’s church. “Our Christian faith is primary to us, so our covenant marriage ceremony was centered on our walk with Jesus and the Gospel,” Janelle says. A geometric Ruffatti pipe organ and ornate stained glass served as their backdrop, while Field Of Flowers placed two white garden rose arrangements on the altar. The team added a little pop of color to Janelle’s all-white bouquet. Blue sea-holly thistles stood out as Scotland's national flower, a nod to John’s heritage. His family tartan also covered the altar as Janelle was led into the ceremony by a bagpiper. After the couple exchanged vows, their celebration continued with a fun white and gold reception at the Westin Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort. One standout detail was the couple’s wedding cake. Janelle and John treated their guests to a classic four-tier almond confection baked by Susie's Scrumptious Sweets. Each layer was accented with white orchids and a few purple roses. The couple ended their night on the dance floor, surrounded by friends and family, before each left with a CD of their favorite religious talk. For future couples, Janelle shares: “Remember, the day is about the two of you and also those who played a role in getting to this epic day.”
