A Traditional Wedding at the Salvador Dali Museum in St. Petersburg, Florid
Kathryn Winn (27, a resident physician) and Patrick Gill (28, a resident physician) met through mutual friends during their second year of medical school. Within a few months, they began to date. Kathryn and Patrick then continued a long-distance relationship while they finished their last two years of medical school. Afterward, they were brought together when both received job offers in Charlotte, North Carolina. Patrick proposed while he and Kathryn were in Florida for New Year’s. ?“He asked my father for permission and let my little sister in on the surprise,” says Kathryn. “He chose the beautiful scenery of downtown St. Pete, my hometown, overlooking the water.” One year later, they were wed at the Trinity Lutheran Church in the same town of St. Petersburg, Florida. “We both felt really strongly that we wanted to get married in a church,’ says Kathryn. The pair had a traditional ceremony in front of 160 members of their friends and family before moving to the Salvador Dali Museum for a navy and gray accented reception. The museum’s unique architecture served as the couple's main decor. “We wanted to keep things classic and simple, from the stationary to the flowers,” says Kathryn. However, Kathryn and Patrick’s celebration went beyond the artistic venue. “Our absolute favorite part of the day was our after party,” says Kathryn. The couple and their guests went around the corner to a local tavern owned by the Matron of Honor’s father for their after party. “We all gathered there for live music, drinks, and snacks. It was laid back, low key, and a great time,” says Kathryn.
