A Traditional Wedding at the Hotel Mazarin in New Orleans, Louisiana
Florence To (28 and a designer) and Sean Comeaux (29 and a designer) first met while studying at the Pratt Institute in New York City and got engaged on a walk over the Williamsburg Bridge. As the couple was listening to music from Sean's iPod, his proposal began to play. "Sean had written and recorded a song for me. It was very sweet and of course I said yes," says Florence. In just eight months, the couple planned their traditional wedding in New Orleans. Wanting an outdoor ceremony in the French Quarter, Florence and Sean selected the Hotel Mazarin. "The elegance, beauty and history of the French Quarter really inspired me, so I wanted our wedding to reflect that," says Florence. Integrating tradition and history into their special day, the couple had a Chinese tea ceremony before moving to the venue's gated courtyard for their second wedding ceremony. They decorated the space in shades of pink, sage, silver and gold. Afterward, Florence, Sean and their guests had a Second Line parade down Bourbon Street. "We had so much fun with our loved ones and a lot of strangers joined in the fun," says Florence. The parade lead the couple and their guests back to the hotel for a reception complete with oysters, cuisine specific to New Orleans and music from their jazz band. Florence advices future couples to invest in up to three things they find most important for the wedding. "Mine were the photographer and band. You don't have to have the biggest and most expensive wedding to have a beautiful wedding," she says.
