A Traditional Wedding at Keswick Vineyards in Keswick, Virginia

The wedding of Mary Beth Bajikar (28 and a teacher) and Sameer Bajikar (25) was a tale of two cultures combining into one beautiful springtime wedding. The couple had separate Hindu and Christian ceremonies at Keswick Vineyards in Keswick, Virginia, where they could have separate spaces for each. “Visiting different vineyards is one of our favorite things to do, so we knew we wanted to get married at a vineyard with a beautiful view,” Mary Beth says. For the Hindu ceremony, Mary Beth wore a traditional sari and tikka, and Sameer wore a sherwani. The couple switched into classic fashions for the Christian ceremony, with the bride in a lace wedding dress with an illusion back and Sameer in a formal black suit. Verde Natural Florals arranged the vibrant wedding flowers, from stunning lush jaimala garlands that the couple exchanged at the Hindu ceremony to a whimsical wedding arch covered in springtime flowers and greens at the Christian ceremony. “We wanted both of our cultures to be fused not only in our ceremonies, but also in our reception,” Mary Beth says. Both Indian and American food, music and traditional dancing were incorporated into the celebration, as well as a combination of Mary Beth and Sameer’s favorite flavors in their wedding cake. “Our whole wedding reflected who we are as a couple and how our families have come together from two different cultures,” Mary Beth says. To future couples, she advises: “Make your wedding about you and your fiance. Don’t forget to have fun: The day goes by so fast.”
