A Traditional Wedding at American Village in Montevallo, Alabama

This traditional blue and white wedding has an unexpected and underlying theme: Jane Austen. Nancy Moore (38 and an actor and costume director at American Village) and Doug Estes (44 and in telecommunications) started their day at the American Village in Montevallo, Alabama, with a religious ceremony in its chapel. “I have performed in the chapel and ballroom many times, but I never thought that I would actually get married there,” Nancy says. Strips of white lace ribbon were tied to each pew as Sheri Farrell Designs accented the altar with lush arrangements of blue hydrangeas and white roses. What really caught our eye was Nancy's classic white ball gown by Justin Alexander. Lace covered her illusion neckline, off-the-shoulder straps and tulle skirt, and she walked down the aisle in 18th-century-inspired blue silk shoes. Doug met her at the altar in a full gray suit and white tie. After the couple shared their first kiss, the party began. Each round table was met with vintage books and quotes from Jane Austen's novels, while lush arrangements of roses, delphiniums and stock filled the center in a mix of vintage vases. Another personal and sweet detail was the couple’s groom’s cake. Wedding Cakes By Jan baked a two-tier confection of an open book with two Bible verses on its pages to reflect the couple’s Christian faith. After a slice of the chocolate confection and their four-tier white wedding cake, each guests left with a bookmark of the Bible verses. Fotowerks Custom Photography captured every moment, below. Nancy shares a tip: “Have fun, and enjoy being engaged. All the things you stress about really don't matter in the end.”
