A Traditional Summer Wedding at Point Lookout Resort in Northport, Maine
From the picturesque views of Penobscot Bay to the arrangements of fresh garden roses and hydrangeas, Whitney Baudanza-Sturks (27 and a registered nurse) and Benjamin Baudanza-Sturks’s (25 and an athletic director) wedding captured the beauty and laid-back feel of summers along the Maine coast. Since the couple grew up in Maine, choosing a location to host their nuptials was a no-brainer, especially with the state’s natural beauty at its prime during July. Point Lookout in Northport, Maine, offered the couple a stunning backdrop against which to say their “I dos,” combining two of Maine’s most prized assets: the mountains and the ocean. Taking advantage of all that Point Lookout had to offer, the couple held their ceremony outdoors, where guests could take in panoramic views of Penobscot Bay as the couple exchanged vows. With such a beautiful setting, Whitney and Benjamin kept the decor simple, adding only a few bunches of fresh white hydrangeas to the aisle. The couple and their guests then moved indoors for the reception. Large fieldstone fireplaces and museum-quality artwork infused the room with a refined yet cozy feel, while floor-to-ceiling windows afforded breathtaking views of the bay. Seasons Downeast decorated the tables with cheerful bunches of garden roses and hydrangeas in ivory, pink and green hues, each arrangement surrounded by a scattering of candles, which added a layer of warmth and romance to the room. Whitney and Benjamin had asked guests to send in their favorite songs along with their RSVPs. As a result, the dance floor was packed, with everyone pausing only to take in the striking sunset over the bay. A tip from Whitney: “Don't let anything or anyone ruin your day. It's one day that's all about the two of you. It comes and goes in the wink of an eye, so don't forget to breathe, laugh and enjoy every moment.”
