A Traditional Scottish Wedding at Banchory Lodge Hotel in Aberdeenshire, Scotland
The traditional Scotland village wedding of Claire McKimmie (30 and a fashion designer) and Jonathan Baskin (33 and a fashion photographer) fully embraced the bride’s Scottish heritage--the groomsmen even wore kilts! “Jonathan wanted to get married in Scotland, as it was a special part of where he knew I was the one,” says Claire. The wedding style was a blend of classic Scottish traditions and modern, sleek elements. The couple included the attire of Scotland, but the bride knew as soon as she started planning that she wanted to wear a Vivienne Westwood wedding dress. At the reception at Banchory Lodge Hotel in Aberdeenshire, the couple presented their guests with a dinner full of traditional Scottish foods, from haggis balls to sticky toffee pudding. But that’s not all: In the midst of traditional Scottish Highland ceilidh dancing to a five-piece fiddle band, Cora Music, a second round of traditional food came out of the kitchen, which included mini pies, meat and vegetarian stovies. See the details captured by NicholasFrostPhotography, below. “My favorite part of the wedding was having it be spread over the weekend,” says Claire. “We made everyone feel like family and included in all the wedding activities. It was a good way for the New York side to meet the Scottish side!”
