A Traditional Pink and White Wedding at University Center Club in Tallahassee, Florida

Filled with florals and DIY centerpieces, Ashton Shippy (25 and a student) and Dale Shelton’s (26 and a law professor) wedding puts a romantic and personal spin on their traditional celebration. They started the day with a sweet ceremony. A Country Rose Florist helped to highlight the church with lush arrangements of roses and hydrangeas as more roses and greenery topped the altar. “We felt as though the ceremony should be focused on our vows to each other and our Lord, not the decor,” Ashton says. Her wedding dress, however, definitely caught our attention. Designed by Casablanca, the white ball gown was covered with intricate silver beading and pearls along the bodice as yards upon yards of tulle filled the skirt. Its long train draped over the aisle as she walked toward Dale in ballet slippers to acknowledge her former hobby. Once they sealed the ceremony with a kiss, all moved to a reception at Florida State’s University Center Club in Tallahassee, Florida. “I wanted to be as hands-on as possible and get the most out of my once-in-a-lifetime wedding, so I did all the decor myself,” Ashton says. Each table was paired with pink candlesticks inside a gold candelabra and a bright pink peony pomander. Their DJ, Rob Snyder Entertainment and Event Productions, kept their 110 guests on the dance floor before they ended the night with a sparkler exit.
