A Traditional, Light-Filled Wedding at Mercury Hall in Austin, Texas

Kerry Sjoberg (26, fitness sales associate) met Paul Sjoberg (27, software implementat) in Washington D.C. at a mutual friend’s birthday party, and hit it off right away when they realized they shared a sense of humor and love of dancing. The couple eventually moved to Austin because it felt like home to them: Austin, with its laid-back community and excellent food, was everything they wanted out of a hometown to share with their family and friends, especially on their wedding day. Kerry’s bridal fashion harkened to a little girl’s dream all grown up, capitalizing on sparkly kicks and glowing accessories. Ever since she was a little girl, Kerry was captivated by tulle ballerina tutus. “In my wedding dress, I was looking for the grown-up sophistication of that little girl dream,” says Kerry. Paul and his groomsmen went for a handsome, understated look with gray suits, custom cream and gold ties, Austin Skyline socks and, for Paul, Cognac Oxfords. “Something that we love about Austin is that every restaurant, shop and backyard has cafe lights hanging outside,” says Kerry. Playing off of their theme of light, the wedding color palette was cream, champagne and gold. Cyllinder vases of white pillar and floating candles were layered everywhere in the reception, mixed with small gold mercury glass votices, a few hints of ivory spray roses and an shredded gold leaf confetti. “It really contributed to the glow that emanated out of the whole evening,” says Kerry.
