A Traditional Jewish Wedding at The Manor House in Littleton, Colorado
Robyn Londer (28 and a nurse) and Jason Swinford (33 and a pharmacy student) met through work. One night, Jason cooked dinner at their apartment. “When the moment was right, he told me that he couldn’t imagine his life without me,” Robyn says. “He pulled out a beautiful round-cut engagement ring and asked if I would marry him. I fought back tears and excitedly agreed.”It was important to Robyn and Jason to have a traditional Jewish wedding. “It was a lot of fun, dancing, drinking and some very important traditions,” Robyn says. “The Bedekken is a traditional event where guests come to visit the bride before the ceremony. The Tish is a traditional event where the groom is surrounded by the male guests witnessing the Rabbi explaining the Ketubah to him (to ensure he knows what he's signing!). After some shared drinks, and a signature by the groom, he is ushered into the brides room with all the other guests, followed by all the men singing. The groom is then to validate that the bride is in fact the woman who he intends to marry, before all the guests head out to the chuppah site. Shortly after everyone is seated, the bride is escorted down the aisle by both her mother and father to meet her groom before having a traditional Jewish wedding ceremony. All of our guests were included in these traditions which made this special for both of us, and for all of them as well.”Having met in Georgia, the couple wanted to combine southern style with the elegant, historical mountain venue. “We felt it tied our roots and future together,” Robyn says. They used ivory, blush and black for their chic day.
