A Traditional, Jewish Wedding at Coach Insignia in Detroit, Michigan

After a mutual friend set up Giulia (28 and a nurse) and Ross (31 and a physician), the two immediately hit it off. "It started with me complimenting Ross's glasses and the rest was history," Giulia says. The proposal came a year later when Ross surprised his bride-to-be with a diamond solitaire engagement ring (that almost got lost in the mail!). "We spent the rest of the evening phoning family and friends to share the good news," the bride explains. For their September wedding in the heart of Detroit, the couple exchanged vows at a non-denominational church in a ceremony that perfectly blended their respective faiths. "We wanted the ceremony to reflect both where we came from and the fact that we were uniting," Giulia explains. "We wanted the space to resemble the Catholic churches where I grew up, yet we needed to have a Chuppah and other Jewish traditions that are a part of Ross's culture." The couple said 'I do' under a large, birch Chuppah draped in white fabric inside of the 100-year-old First Congregational Church of Detroit and later celebrated on the 72nd floor of the GM Renaissance Building at the Coach Insignia steakhouse. "We were fortunate to have our reception at one of the best restaurants in Detroit, so we trusted their menu -- it was delicious!" the bride says. After dinner, guests were able to sip from a selection of Michigan beers while enjoying a performance by the Bluewater Kings Band. "The most important things to us are good food, great music and our relationships with family and friends," Giulia says. "Since our wedding was relatively small, it allowed us to focus on all of those things."
