A Traditional Jewish Garden Wedding at Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens in Delray Beach, Florida
About two years after Marni Singer (24 and in non-profit development) and Seth Berliner (27 and in public relations) met at her sister's potluck, Seth popped the question with a scavenger hunt. Marni had gone to four locations and collected four stuffed gorillas, which pointed to a running joke between the couple, when Seth met her at local drive-in restaurant, dropped to one knee and proposed with two rose gold rings on another stuffed gorilla. Over the next year, Marni and Seth planned a traditional Jewish wedding filled with yellow, white, blue and neutral accents. “The wedding style was simple and minimalist, with a hint of bohemian/rustic inspiration,” says Marni. “I didn't fuss too much about decor.” With a love for nature and the outdoors, the couple chose Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens to house their outdoor celebration. Marni and Seth highlighted the natural setting by with white folding chairs in a circular formation and a rustic lantern on a white linen-covered table. The couple said “I do” under a wooden chuppah draped in a black and white talit before their guests moved a few steps to the side for an outdoor reception. Each friend and family member found his or her seat listed on a neutral DIY tag hanging from an exposed wood frame. String lighting was hung overhead as each round and family-style table was met with neutral linens, gold chiavari chairs and rustic lanterns. A mixture of yellow and white wildflowers in clear glass bulb vases and mason jars lined each table. The couple spent the rest of their night dancing to current and classic songs performed by South Florida's Heat Wave. To future couples, Marni shares: “It's worth spending the extra money on an amazing band. Also, don't sweat the small stuff!”
