Demetra Gartaganis (28, an account manager) and Michael J. Crotty Jr. (32, a basketball coach)  were introduced professionally by a mutual friend via email. Despite the fact that Michael’s focus was in finance while Demetra was searching for a marketing role, they set up a time to meet at Michael’s office. After a few weeks of madly searching for marketing jobs so that he could stay in contact with Demetra on a professional level, he decided to do what he wanted to do from the moment he first saw her: ask her out on a date. After their first date, a Celtic's game, the pair quickly became inseparable. With the help of her family, Michael proposed in the small Greek village of Stemnitsa—the town where her father was born and she was baptized. After their far-flung engagement, the couple set their eyes on their beloved hometown of Boston for their wedding. The day began with a Greek Orthodox wedding ceremony at St. John the Baptist Hellenic Orthodox Church, followed by a traditional ballroom reception at the Four Seasons Hotel. Demetra and Michael decorated their traditional occasion with neutral shades of white and ivory accented with glam gold details for a truly timeless effect.

Demetra wore a strapless, ivory Vera Wang ball gown with billowy layers of tulle and chiffon. "It had the princess feel I was looking for and knew I always wanted for my wedding day," she says.
The bridesmaids wore custom black, floor-length peplum skirts with black silk blouses Allison Collection in New York City.

"We loved that St. John the Baptist was tucked away—it's a little hidden secret and so gorgeous inside," says Demetra.

The couple's Greek Orthodox wedding ceremony included traditional stefana wedding crowns—a symbol of unity.

"I love a very clean and traditional feel and look," says Demetra. "I also love gold." The couple outfitted their Four Seasons ballroom reception in a timeless, glam palette of white and gold.

On the reception tables, all-white arrangements of peonies, orchids and roses sat atop tall gold vases.

The round layers of the cannoli flavored wedding cake were finished with painted gold stripes.
Guests took home personalized tubes of matches with the couple's name and wedding date on them.
