A Traditional Garden Wedding at The Estate on The Halifax in Port Orange, Florida

Helen Hsu (27, works in marketing) and Deepak Adappa (26, works in corporate finance) first met while in school at the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business. He proposed while the couple was on vacation in Aruba. “I was enthusiastically taking pictures and saying into the video “Oh my gosh, Deepak can be romantic! It only took him 5 years!” says Helen. After dinner that night, Deepak got down on one knee. A short conversation later of alternating “Really?” and “Yes!” between the two, Helen accepted. “He later told me he was getting more nervous with each “really,” says Helen. While they live in Chicago, the couple chose to have their wedding at The Estate on The Halifax in Port Orange, Florida. They selected this location for personal and practical reasons. “Deepak's sister was nearby, it was our first vacation spot together and it was a place that Helen's family made annual trips to,” says Helen. The couple ensured they represented Indian and Taiwanese traditions in their special day. For this reason, their theme was East and South Asian, says Helen. Her and Deepak where wed just over two years after their engagement in front of 110 friends and family members.
