A Traditional Emerald Green Wedding at The Crowne Plaza Clayton in St. Louis, Missouri
Nora Doyle (27, Pediatric Nurse Practitioner) met John Degroote (27, Biomedical Engineer) at Saint Louis University. The two both majored in Biomedical Engineering, so they often found themselves in the same classes. John found Nora friendly and approachable, while Nora found John funny, outgoing, and very smart. The two began dating at SLU, where they would wed years later. John popped the question on the beach of Gulf Shores, Alabama while the pair vacationed with John’s family. He planned an proposal at sunset the first night of their trip, but rainy weather almost put the plan on hold. Nora, feeling cooped up, agreed to go on a walk in the rain with John, setting the plan back into motion. “The best part of all was when we got back to the condo not only was his family there, but mine as well,” says Nora. “He had gotten them to come down secretly to be there for our engagement!” Since Nora still had two years of graduate school ahead of her, the two enjoyed a long engagement. Over the course of 28 months the couple planned autumn nuptials to be held in St. Louis, Missouri while they lived in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Nora and John said ‘I do’ on October 4, 2014 at St. Francis Xavier College Church, located on the SLU campus, in front of 175 of their closest friends and family members. A cocktail hour and dinner reception followed at The Crowne Plaza Clayton. Guests enjoyed a variety of homemade beers, all brewed with love by the groom for the celebration.
