A Traditional, Elegant Wedding at Tufts University in Medford, Massachussetts
After living together in three countries and five states during the seven-year period that they were dating, Sara Douglass (29 and a psychologist) and Rob Bayless (28 and an engineer) decided that Tufts University in Medford, Massachusetts—where they met and fell in love—would be the perfect place to say their “I dos.” With the help of Kim Randall Events, the couple planned an elegant, classic affair packed with plenty of touches and surprises that perfectly captured their personalities. The couple kept the decor timeless and classic, choosing a navy and white palette and decorating with arrangements of blooms like peonies, hydrangeas and stock. Sara and Rob made the most of the university's facilities, hosting each portion of the day in a different venue. The day started at Goddard Chapel, a historic church with brilliant stained glass, high ceilings and beautiful paneling, followed by cocktail hour on the library’s rooftop, which offered striking views of the Boston skyline. Breed Memorial Hall hosted the reception, where guests were treated to a lively six-piece band, a photo booth and a surprise jump rope performance by Sara—a former competitive national and international jump roper. A tip from Sara: “Hire a fantastic event coordinator. Our coordinator, Kim Randall, had everything so well planned and was so well organized that I honestly didn't worry about anything all day. And that's saying a lot, because I'm usually the person worrying about all the little details. But not having to do that meant I could completely relax and really enjoy the day. I'm sure things went wrong, but I didn't know about them—and still don’t, which is really the best wedding gift you could ask for.”
