A Traditional Church Wedding at Gardendale First Baptist Church in Gardendale, Alabama

When Tyler Kelley (28 and a project manager) messaged Sidney Long (23 and a dental assistant) on Facebook, she waited a little while to respond because she was over guys at the moment. When she finally did respond, he asked her out on a date—twice—and Sidney backed out both times. After some encouragement from her mom, Sidney gave Tyler a chance and the pair ended up dating a year before Tyler proposed on their anniversary. The couple spent the next year planning their traditional church wedding at Gardendale First Baptist Church in Gardendale, Alabama. "Although the wedding was indoors in an enormous sanctuary, the environment was very warm and cozy." says Sidney. "We absolutely loved that our friends and family watched us say our vows and come together in a lifelong partnership with each other and our gracious Lord." The newlyweds didn't want to overpower their traditional day with a vibrant color palette and instead worked with muted shades of gray, purple and ivory. Sidney personalized her understated Mori Lee ball gown by adding a belt, crystals down the back and wearing the oversized flower that come on her belt in her hair instead. "My wedding day fashions were some of the easiest decisions we had to make—I even won free suits from Jos. A. Bank at a bridal show!" says Sidney. "We took pictures after the ceremony so our cocktail hour became more of a eat while you can until the bride and groom get here time because we're getting down once they arrive!"
