A Traditional Catholic Wedding at Resurrection Catholic Parish in Tualatin, Oregon
Gizzelle Williams (31, in information technology sales) and Jeff Akin (38, a broadcaster) met for the first time when Gizzelle sang the National Anthem at one of Jeff's professional wrestling shows. However, it wasn’t until almost seven years later they would meet again as members of the same band. They had been dating for a little over a year when Jeff decided to propose to Gizzelle at their second annual Holiday Party. As the evening winded down and family members started packing up to leave, Jeff silenced the party playlist and began to make a toast. He raised his glass to the occasion that brought family and friends together, and then to everyone's surprise, Jeff asked Gizzelle for her hand in marriage. Immediately after getting engaged, Gizzelle started searching for the perfect wedding dress. She ended up wearing a fitted ivory dress that was refurbished, with a sheer material on the chest accented with crystals and a thick beige belt. The couple had their wedding at Resurrection Catholic Parish in Tualatin, Oregon and was officially married by a priest who they got to know over a church retreat. The gold and pink color palette was the inspiration behind the ties and vests of the groomsmen and the dresses and bouquets of the bridal party. “All that matters is what you and your future spouse want,” says Gizzelle. “Family, friends, frenemies and the rest will all have comments and opinions, but they're not the ones getting married. It's your day, own it and make it yours!”
