A Traditional Catholic Wedding at Pearl Stable in San Antonio, Texas

Cortney Blumberg (26 and a teacher) and Isaac Sanchez (27 and an electrical engineer) met in college through a mutual friend who had tried to get the two to date. It didn’t work the first time since the two were living in different cities, but a few years down the road and with a few less miles between them, Isaac eventually worked up the courage to ask Cortney out to a piano karaoke bar with friends. Four years later, the couple trained and ran the San Antonio Rock & Roll Half Marathon together. At the end of the race, Isaac sprinted ahead and waited at the finish line down on one knee. The couple married in San Antonio, Texas at The Immaculate Conception Memorial Chapel at The Oblate School of Theology. “We wanted a traditional Catholic wedding with a long aisle to walk down,” says Cortney. “We also loved the beautiful grounds which included a lovely grotto.” The reception was held at the Pearl Stable, a historic revitalized venue along the San Antonio River. When asked what the wedding colors would be, Cortney jokingly responded with the classic line from Steel Magnolias, “My colors are blush and bashful.” The neutral palette of gray and pink created a classic, elegant atmosphere, complemented by accents of lace and pearls. At dinner, guests were serenaded with the music of Mariachi Azul de San Antonior, who played mariachi tunes as well as modern melodies. As a surprise, Cortney and Isaac prepared two choreographed dances for their first dance: a waltz to “Young and Beautiful” by Lana Del Rey and a bachata style dance to Prince Royce’s “Stand By Me.”
