A Traditional and Rustic Wedding at Lost Mission in Spring Branch, Texas
Anyone passing through Lost Mission on the day that Rachel Lewis (36 and an event planner) and Roy Mathews (36 and a lawyer) got married might have been confused about where they were. The property maintains a Spanish-style church, and the couple brought in Indian jewelry, Mexican cuisine and Dr. Pepper floats. “Roy is Syro-Malabar Catholic, so our wedding respected both American and Syro-Malabar Indian traditions,” Rachel says. She wore a stunning simple satin form-fitting wedding gown, and accessorized with earrings and shiny high-top Converse sneakers. Her bridesmaids wore mismatched dresses in jewel-toned shades, paired with neutral green and white bouquets, while Roy donned a classic black suit. The ceremony took place in a rustic chapel decorated with Spanish-style architecture. It had so much natural beauty that the couple didn't bring in many decorations or accents. The reception kept up the rustic elegance with neutral-colored draping and tablecloths, which allowed the wooden chandeliers to pop. The long head table stood out with sparkly gold linens—and so did the dessert table featuring a two-tiered wedding cake with greenery accents. Later, Rachel changed into a traditional Hindu lehenga for dancing. “We did a surprise Bollywood dance with our best friends to kick off the party,” Rachel says. “Then the groomsmen picked us up and we danced on their shoulders. It was my favorite moment of the day.”
