A Timeless Garden Wedding at Davis Islands Garden Club in Tampa, Florida
Jennifer Malool (25 and a marketing manager) and Blake Bentley (29 and in Latin American baseball operations) became engaged three years after her mom set them up on a blind date. Blake proposed a few days after Christmas with a surprise trip to Lido Beach in Sarasota, Florida. “I was not expecting it at all and was overjoyed," says Jennifer. The couple spent their next 22 months planning a classic wedding at the Davis Islands Garden Club in Tampa, Florida. “I didn’t want colors, but went with a “coastal chic” feel: white orchids and flowers, green succulents, sand, creams, golds, and lots of white candles,” says Jennifer. Her and Blacke held their wedding behind a white gazebo, overlooking the Tampa skyline and Port Tampa Bay. The garden venue served as their main decor. Simple white chairs and hanging arrangements of white hydrangea and roses were added to decorate the space. After an hour of taking pictures, Jennifer and Blake joined their 125 guests for appetizers and the reception. Each ivory linen covered table was met with gold chiavari chairs, lanterns and low floral arrangements. Some tables included a sand filled pedestal vase accented with wood, succulents, green hypericum berries and white roses. Jennifer and Blake’s reception was filled with fun and personal moments, including a Michael Jackson dance off with her brother as the emcee. When it comes to wedding advice, Jennifer shares: “Take five minutes and sit back at the reception and look around the room,” says Jennifer. "It's crazy, exciting and an overwhelming fullness of joy." They couple left their reception with a festive bubble gun and glow stick exit.
