A Sweet, Sophisticated Wedding at the Historic Kent Manor Inn in Stevensville, Maryland
Another online dating success story, Benjamin (27 and a police officer) and Emily (27 and a teacher) corresponded through email before meeting, but because she was hesitant about meeting in person, Emily only scheduled an hour-long date. Needless to say, she wished it had been longer. "I was pleasantly surprised and couldn't wait to see him again," she says. After dating for two and half years, Ben proposed in the comfort of their home. They got married in between Emily's hometown and DC, their current residence, at the Historic Kent Manor Inn in Stevensville, Maryland. The ceremony was held by the water in the Inn's gazebo with rustic wooden signs all the way down the aisle. At the reception, centerpieces consisted of wrought iron lanterns with candles and coral pink roses atop burlap table runners. Emily carried a bouquet of assorted white flowers, including roses, along with bright coral tulips that stood out from the arrangement. Her bridesmaids had simple baby's breath bouquets and wore short coral dresses. Emily's ruffled tulle ball gown looked spectacular and matched the classic elegance of the venue. After a chicken or steak dinner, guests were invited onto the dance floor or outside to play lawn games. Instead of a tiered wedding cake, Ben and Emily had a small cutting cake topped with coral roses, along with a beautiful cupcake tower with assorted flavors. At the end of the night, guests took home small bags of Fisher's popcorn, a well-known Maryland delicacy, with the phrase, "Our Love is Poppin'!" Overall, the wedding was sweet and traditional, befitting of a sophisticated couple with a southern sensibility.
