A Sweet and Sophisticated Wedding at the Chicago History Museum in Chicago, Illinois
Catherine (29 and an attorney) and Edward (29 and a dentist) met while attending graduate school in Boston. Coincidentally, Edward was childhood friends with Catherine's brother-in-law. They dated for several years--including a few long distance when Eddie moved to San Diego--before Eddie proposed around the upcoming holiday season. Although they usually spend the holidays in their own respective states, Eddie wanted to surprise Catherine by visiting her in November and decorating her apartment for Christmas. Photos of their relationship hung on the tree as Eddie gave Catherine her early Christmas present--a very special engagement ring. When they booked their early March wedding following an almost year and a half engagement period, they hoped to have both an indoor and outdoor venue, but the weather was too chilly to keep guests comfortable. They decided instead to to have an entirely indoor wedding at the Chicago History Museum, where their elegant, tall centerpieces could emphasize the venue's high ceilings. Incorporating a neutral color palette of blush, champagne, and ivory, the flower arrangements and table settings were classic, timeless, and oh so romantic. In order to stay warm in the brisk weather, Catherine covered up with a fur shawl, while her bridesmaids wore matching white pashmina scarves over their blush pink gowns. The groomsmen, meanwhile, looked dapper in their black tuxedos with matching tie clips and a variety of sports-related cufflinks for a touch of whimsy. Catherine and Edward also merged their hometown cultures by serving a snack bar of assorted Dunkin Donuts munchkins (to represent Boston) and Garrett's popcorn (from Chicago).
