A Sunflower-Inspired Wedding at Glen Tavern Inn in Santa Paula, California

“I have loved sunflowers since I was a child, since they are cheerful booms that make a big impact,” Misty Revell (32 and a teen coordinator) says of her marriage to Jake Finch (31 and an agricultural consultant). “The grounds at Glen Tavern Inn in Santa Paula, California, felt very intimate, free-spirited and relaxed, and we wanted our guests to feel comfortable.” Misty's love for sunflowers showed throughout the space that created a cozy vibe for this garden-themed wedding, making guests feel right at home. Misty and Jake incorporated their love for gardening into the day’s stationery through a sunflower-seed packet design—from the custom-made invitations to the escort cards with different flower names that matched with the table markers—captured by Elizabeth Burgi Photography. Additional decorations weren't needed at the lawn ceremony surrounded by tall trees and trimmed bushes, with the white iron wedding arch as the focal point. It was accented with sunflowers, dahlias and roses, thanks to Floral Designs by Roni. Stefanie Terrazas Bakery created white and chocolate cupcakes topped with sugar sunflowers, which went with the white wedding decorated with a fresh sunflower and baby's breath. We loved the symbolism behind the favors of seed packets given to each guest, decorated personally by Misty and her sister. "We wanted the favors to complement our theme and be meaningful for our guests," Misty says. "We thought the seed packets would be perfect, so everyone could plant the seeds, enjoy the blooms and be reminded of the day."
