A Sunflower-Inspired Afternoon Wedding at Ashton Gardens in Atlanta, Georgia
Christine (23) was impressed when Austin (23) asked her to dance when they bumped into each other at a local dive bar. She was completely smitten when he then proceeded to twirl her around and dip her. Every week there after, the pair made a point of planning a romantic date night. Christine hurried home from work one Monday to freshen up before a romantic dinner and was shocked when she found Austin waiting on one knee in her kitchen, with her younger sister manning a camera to capture the propels. An engagement party at Rachel's parent's house completed the surprise-filled evening. The pair went on to plan a semi-formal afternoon affair at Ashton Gardens in Sugar Hill, GA. The intimate chapel ceremony featured high vaulted ceilings, exposed wood beams and floor-to-ceiling windows. Sunflowers filled the ballroom reception with beautiful crystal chandeliers, a large dance floor and a lit grand staircase. "I know it might sound contradictory but I really wanted the wedding to be both modern and traditional," says Christine. "The sunflower is our favorite because the first summer after we started dating, we planted a garden of 12-ft sunflowers! They're such happy flowers and I wanted to incorporate them throughout our day."
